Suitable for both the experienced and the inexperienced traveler in search of adventure and wildlife, this tour features the most popular destinations in an African safari expedition. Extensions and upgrades are available on request.
Day 1
On arrival at the international airport, you will be transferred to the hotel in Nairobi for overnight.
Day 2 - Mount Kenya
Drive North through the rich farmlands of coffee, pineapples and more to the world famous Mt Kenya Safari Club. Set right on the equator and overlooking the magnificent snow capped Mt Kenya, the Club is a dream and work of the late actor William Holden, severally voted as one of the finest resorts in the world. It boasts a heated swimming pool, manicured gardens and lawns, with strolling peacocks and storks. Optional activities such as horseback riding, bowling, golf, tennis, nature walks and great boutiques are available. You will be expected to arrive in time for lunch. Your afternoon will be spent free, giving you an opportunity to enjoy either of these activities. Evenings (dining dress code) are '' casually elegant' – Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – The Great Rift Valley
Leave leisurely after breakfast and drive via the Nyahururu Water Falls (Thompson Falls – commonly known as the T-falls!) stopping to view, and down the escarpment into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park located right on the floor of the awe-inspiring Rift Valley. This soda lake is ridged by picturesque hills giving a wonderful view of the whole expanse of the lake and shores, drawing many aquatic birds along with the countless flamingos whose flight makes a pink cloud against blue water. Over 450 species of birds are available in this sanctuary. Lunch at your lodge will be followed by an afternoon game drive in this small game-filled Park returning at dusk for dinner and overnight
Day 4 – Maasai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, continue across the floor of the Great Rift Valley past the Maasai town of Narok to the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve by lunch time. For most safari participants, this is the jewel and highlight of the safari expedition. You will be enchanted by the diversity of animals that roam the Mara plains, and if traveling over the migration period, you will experience the seasonal annual migration of wildebeests and zebras in millions as they cross over into this ecosystem from Serengeti (July – October). The breathtaking topography of the region, comprising of endless expansive escarpments and plateaus will be interesting. The park is home to the largest populations of predators including the big cats. Witnessing them making a' kill' is phenomenal. Enjoy an afternoon game drive returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Maasai Mara National Reserve
Full day in the Mara with game drives (an early morning game drive and a late afternoon game drive – each of approx. 3 hrs), all meals and overnight as above (on this day, you may opt to take a balloon ride in the morning followed by a Champagne breakfast (as opposed to a game drive), an unforgettable experience at an extra cost! Possible too is a visit to a Maasai Village (Manyatta) in between the two game drives – optional at an extra minimal charge)
Day 6 – Mara / Nairobi
An early morning game drive in the Mara is followed by breakfast and thereafter, return to Nairobi to arrive by mid afternoon. Lunch en route.
