mount kenya

Where do you go? Mt. Kenya, 5.199m, is the second highest mountain in Africa. It is part of the Central Highlands in Kenya and is a broad symmetrical volcano cone whose diameter at the base is about 12 km.

What activities & attractions: There are three popular routes to the peaks of Mount Kenya: the Naro Moro, the Simon and Chogoria; all can be integrated with the Summit Circuit. The climb of Batian and Nelion peaks require a certain mountaineering ability, whereas Point Lenana, the third peak (4.895m), is easily accessible by most trekkers. The snow covered peaks and glaciers are located about 16 km south of the equator (while the Rwenzori peaks are situated on the north of the equator). All the central body and peaks are surrounded by the Summit Circuit path, a circular trail which gives you the best sceneries of the mountain.

Who should take this Safari: this trekking is demanding in terms of physical preparation and endurance to fatigue and cold temperature. Altitude sickness can be a problem when the acclimatisation is not properly respected.

When? The best time to take the trekking is the dry season, from December to March and from June to September.
